How can I get rid of a headache without taking medicine?

I have a headache but I hate swallowing pills and have no other alternatives at this moment (like chewable pills, etc).

Is there any way that I can get rid of my headache without taking medicine?

My doctor said that headaches happen when we are dehydrated, so go to the kitchen and run a tumbler of water, a big one and drink it down, and 8 glasses of water a day is good for your health.

How do you get rid of a headache without taking pills?

I have a headache to where every time i move my head suddenly, it hurts. How do i get rid of this headache without taking pills?

Ouch. I just got over mine! XD

Here’s what I do to get rid of my headache! It’s never failed me.

First, take a few peices of paper towl and fold it until it’s thick enough. Make sure it’s wide and long enough to fit over your whole forehead and over atleast part of your eyes. If you don’t have paper towl, kleenex or toilet paper work too.

Than, run the paper towl under cold water from your sink until it’s full of water.

When your done with that, place the wet paper towel in your freezer and leave it in there for about 30-60 minutes, depending on how long it takes it to freeze up. While you wait, wash your face with cold water and sit down in a dark room with your eyes closed.

When the paper towers frozen solid, go to your room or any dark room with a bed, turn the lights off and make sure there isn’t much light. Cover your windows if you have to or close your blinds. Lay on your bed.

Than, put the frozen paper towel on your forehead and a bit over your eyes. press the sides down a little so it takes up the shape of your forehead. Don’t press it too much though, because it’ll start to melt away on it’s own. Close your eyes.

This always works for me and like I said, it NEVER fails. You may also be thinking, “why not just use an icepack?”. Well, ice packs don’t take up the shape of your forehead like a frozen peice of paper towel does. The paper towl gets into every little curve there is.

I also suggest being ready for the headaches. Keep a couple frozen paper towels in your freezer, so you’re ready to go when the headaches do happen.

Good luck!

What could be the reason for a headache with a pounding sensation?

how’s it going?

i have been running & weightlifting regularly for about 9 months now with no problems. i started jumping rope as a substitute for running in the winter, and have been doing it for 3 days (6-8 intense intervals separated by short periods of rest.) the problem is; whenever i jump rope i get this headache that seems to go with the pulsing of my heart. the higher my heart rate, the more frequent the pounding. i’ve never suffered from headaches before, so what might be the cause of this?

thank you in advance.

I have the same problem! when i go for a jog my heart rate increases… causing the blood to pump more.. i end up with a CHRONIC head pain! like i cant stand up. it goes away in about 3 mins but im left with a painful headache… I’m going for a CT scan tomorrow.. may be due to blood pressure, blockage… or internal bleeding.. ill let you know the results. but i suggest you see a doctor…

How do vasoconstrictors relieve a vascular headache?

A vascular headache is a headache where blood vessel swelling or disturbance causes the pain.

Vasoconstrictors are supposed to help, but I'm not sure why or how.

They narrow the blood vessels, slowing the blood flow.

How come i get a headache sometimes when i smoke a cigar?

Is headache and backache a sign labor will start?

I am 38 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I have had an awful headache backache, diarrhea, nausea all day long. Can this be the start of labor?

I sure hope so! I'm 38 weeks 4 days pregnant, and have been having horrible back ache and headaches for the past week, and diarrhea and nausea for the past day or two.
It could be anytime, but then again, it could still be a few more weeks.

What causes a headache in the same spot above an eye?

What could possibly cause this kind of a headache…It's usually in one spot above the right eye. This has been going on for about 9 months now and the headaches come randomly about 3-4 times a week (doesn't seem to be caused because of change in weather). The pain is usually sharp just in that area. Could this be serious or is it just a normal thing to deal with? What can cause this and what can be done to prevent it other then to drink pills?

Most headaches around the eyes are one of two types – either migraine, or sinus headache; you may be able to determine which one it is likely to be by the following:

A migraine headache is virtually entirely on one side of the head; it is often accompanied by nausea, and sensitivity to light and/or sound. Some people experience an "aura" shortly before the migraine begins; it can be visual, auditory, or even olfactory (sense of smell). A migraine is often helped by being in a cool, dark room, and often disappears after a period of sleep. The causes of migraines are not fully understood, but there are prescription medications that can help; ibuprofen helps some people, but usually it doesn't do much. Some people also respond to medications or liquids containing caffeine.

Sinus headaches behave differently. Generally, the pain is on both sides of the face, and often worst near the cheekbones or around the eyes. Light or sound generally have little if any effect on the headache. Cool surroundings often make the sufferer feel worse; warm compresses or a heating pad often help. Sinus headaches generally respond well to ibuprofen or Tylenol, particularly if combined with sudafed/pseudoephedrine (like Tylenol Sinus formula or a similar medication).

If either one of these sounds familiar, then check with your doctor – particularly if it is a migraine, as the only really effective migraine medications are prescription-only preparations. Even if none of the above sounds familiar, it sounds to me like it's time to see your doctor. Good luck!
